Pest concerns have over taken the Canadian export industry within the past month. The biggest news is a disruption in exporting to China. The ban on exporting goods from Richardson International Ltd. (one of Canada’s largest grain producers) is due to concerns of an insect infestation. As a result, this has caused canola prices to take a significant hit. Currently Canada typically supplies about 40 percent of China’s canola imports, worth approximately $3.6 billion. CBC News noted in its article that, “agriculture is a cornerstone for our economy, and when it’s not operating at its full potential, it hurts everybody.”
This recent news shows how pests are not small problems and can be very impactful on a large scale. Whether they are within a single household, place of business, or potentially in an agricultural field – they can greatly affect us! Take your protection seriously against pests. Call us at Advantage Pest Control in Toronto to discuss a residential or commercial protection plan. We want to keep your spaces, pest-free!
