Bed bugs are quite the nuisance! They are wherever humans can be, at anytime of the year!
While inhabiting your home, these pests also feed off of your blood. They can leave little bites all over your body. Their bites can look vary in appearance, either random and spread out or clustered together. Some people can react strongly to bed bug bites, while others may not react at all. They usually look like a red swollen spots on your skin with a dark red centre. Along with bed bug bites, there can also be blisters or hives at the bite site. Bites can happen anywhere on your body. The most common areas they are found are usually where your skin is exposed while sleeping – face, arms, legs and hands. The bites may not appear immediately after you are bitten and can take a few days to appear. Bed bugs do not need to feed every single night. They can go several days without eating!
Avoid scratching these bites as it can introduce germs and infect the bitten area. Keep them clean and use calamine lotion, hydrocortisone or antihistamines to help with extreme itchiness. If you are concerned about the bites, be sure to see your doctor!
