Springtime is when most homeowners roll up their sleeves, dust off their cleaning tools, and start thinking about getting their home spick and span. This often involves pest elimination as well. At Advantage Pest Control in Toronto, we recommend these tips to keep those pests away this Spring:
- Keep Plants Away from Windows
Plants and mulch tend to attract a lot of pests and critters. Ants and rodents can crawl and climb up the branches to gain access to your home. The best way to avoid this is to keep all kinds of plants and mulch away from your home, especially open windows and doors.
- Seal Vulnerable Points
Make sure your windows, doors, and other such vulnerable points have a tight seal around them. You can replace worn down weather-stripping, use caulk, or install screens to help keep pests away from these small cracks.
- Keep Food Off the Ground
Opened or unsealed food can attract pests. You’re more likely to see things like cockroaches, mice, and ants in your home if you have food crumbs on the floor or on furniture – this includes any untended pet food, loosely sealed bagged food, baked goods, and fruits left on the counter. It is important that all flooring is swept, mopped, and/or vacuumed regularly and that any residual food particles are wiped away and cleaned after preparing or eating food.
