When you see Mickey Mouse at Disney World, you and your kids enjoy his company! However, if what you saw was a real mouse running over your kitchen or living room floor, you’d undoubtedly feel irritated about it! The real-life creature is definitely not a delightful household guest. Mice are one of the dirtiest pests on the planet. What’s worse, is as per recent studies, mice are not just unpleasant but can affect you and your family’s health too.
Professor Simon William of Columbia University led a team of scientists to research about the likelihood of serious infections or antibiotic-resistant infections, which could be passed from mice to humans. He and his team analyzed mice faeces. They gathered 416 rodents from residential buildings at several different places in New York. After their research, they discovered that there were 36 viruses and six new viruses carried by the mice. The genetic sequencing of the viruses matched similar infections from chickens, pigs, and dogs. These findings implied that there could be a possibility that viruses can be transferred from different species.
Therefore, to prevent any antibiotic-resistant diseases as a result of household mice, you should get rid of the source – the mice! Here are some tips that you can implement to keep your household mice-free.
