We sometimes refer to them as ‘masked bandits’, but this report from City News takes the name to a whole new level. A family of raccoons broke into an RBC branch at St.Clair and Oakwood. They are responsible for the branch closing due to their takeover and the structural damage they have caused. The report shared that “Royal Bank of Canada spokesman Mark Hamill says the bank had hoped the closure would be short-term, but the animals did more damage than we thought.”

Raccoons are known to cause damage when trying to gain access to a home. This can vary from destroying screens or ripping off roof shingles. When inside the home, they can rip off the insulation on air conditioning ducts. They will also dig into your garbage and pantries! Raccoons are also known for their aggressive nature. Be sure not to feed them if you come into contact with them. To help prevent a raccoon from entering your home, it is best to eliminate any entry points and remove any garbage on your property. Keeping your bins tightly sealed is just as important too!
