According to recent articles in Metro News and CBC news, there are an overwhelming amount of mice and rodents reported on both the east and west coasts this winter. Although they are thriving in these regions of Canada, the city of Toronto is still at risk.
Fall is a peak period for rodent problems, but sometimes it takes a few weeks (or maybe just a return from the holidays) to realize how bad the problem actually is. The mild winter may be part of the blame for the delay in this year’s problem.
Rodents are also drawn to areas with more construction, more population, older buildings and proximity to resources (food/water). With the increased construction in downtown Toronto, these become areas of concern.
Here are some helpful tips to keep rodents away:
Keep entry points sealed around your home (cracks or holes in walls)
Keep compost bings closed/clean from residue on the outside
Remove water sources (puddles, buckets)
Keep any entrance ways closed (doors, garages etc.)
